Blue Sage (Salvia azurea) is a herbaceous perennial plant that grows in central and eastern North America. It differs from its more well-known relative, white sage. The aroma is less pungent, but also earthy and floral. Some describe the aroma as black licorice or similar to mushrooms. Blue sage’s leaves are much thinner and some people find it burns more readily than White Sage. Despite these differences, blue sage is a very popular choice for smoke cleansing, or smudging, and helps to break up and remove negative energies. Each bundle is naturally grown, without the use of pesticides, in California, USA.
